Problem

Busy schedules often make it hard for pet owners to give their dogs the care they deserve.
Many love their pets deeply but feel guilty leaving them home alone for long hours, especially when daily walks aren’t possible.

Solution

Design a user-friendly app that makes it easy for dog owners to find and book reliable dog walkers faster in their area, while also ensuring the safety and well-being of the dogs being walked.

Design Process

Understanding the user was a vital part of this project, I was responsible for both research's and visual designs

TEST

User research

A qualitative survey was created to gather insights from dog owners, aiming to understand their preferences, habits, and needs regarding a dog walking app

Most participants expressed concern about their dogs feeling lonely. The feedback received through research made it very clear that users want an easy way of booking a trustworthy dog walker who will prioritize the safety and well-being of their furry friends

Key insights from the survey

86%

want an easy booking

95%

want trustworthy sitters

73%

wants real time tracking

Target Audience

  • Busy professionals

  • Elderly and mobility challenged individuals

  • People who need regular exercise and socialization for their pets

User Journey Map

To connect user pain to product value, I mapped the offline dog-walking journey

Two key friction points:

  • Finding someone trustworthy & fast

  • Confirming the walk without the back-and-forth

That helped me focus the design;

Fewer steps, faster booking, and clear trust signals

User Flow

To reduce friction, I designed a short, focused flow:

Launch app

View walkers

Schedule

Confirm and book

Get walk updates

Information Architecture

I conducted a card-sorting exercise to understand how users naturally grouped features. From this, I structured the app into 5 core sections:

Home

Search

Schedules

Pets

User profile

Ideation

I started by brainstorming ideas and creating a storyboard for the Dog walking app. From there, I developed paper wireframes to visualize the interface and design personalized guidance for scheduling walks and finding dog walkers

Usability Testing

An early version of the product was tested with five users in an unmoderated usability test. They tested the Figma prototype and gave their feedbacks
